| How to find
information on the Web
1) Making things faster: To get to a website, e.g. Google.com, a) press F6 b) type google and then hit Strg (Ctrl) plus the enter/return key. 2) Google basically looks for words on web pages. Google does not look for information. And Google does not look for the thing you want. e.g.: If you enter the word banana as your search, Google will NOT give you a banana, PERHAPS information on bananas, but REALLY just web pages on which the word banana appears. 3) You can write your query any way you like on Google, e.g. london, London, LONDON, or lOnDoN). The fastest way is to use lower case letters throughout.
13) You can exclude words by putting a minus directly (!) in front of them, e.g.: -France, Tokio-Hotel -Bill. You can also use Google's Advanced Search to do this. 14) In Google's picture search you can tell Google to look for large, medium, or small pictures and for pictures in black and white, greyscale, or colour. 15) You can easily find information in other languages by using the Wikipedia and then clicking on a link to the Spanish, English, or French version. Information in how many different languages on Biberach can you find in the Wikipedia? Try it out! 16) Finding a word or figure on a large web page is easy when you use Strg +F and then type the word or figure.Try it out: Find the word Bizkit on this page. 17) Never
forget: Using Google for every kind of search is as stupid as using a
hammer for every kind of work! More information at searchengines.com
