Grundlage für Teil 1 (Textaufgabe) ist ein landeskundlicher Text, der ca. 500 Wörter lang ist. Der Text für die englisch-deutsche Übersetzung (Teil 2.1) hat eine ungefähre Länge von 180 Wörtern. Für den Teil 2.2 (Mediation) bilden Texte von ca. 500 bis 800 Wörtern Länge – je nach Sprachrichtung – den Ausgangspunkt.
In dem Aufgabenbereich „A Step further“ (Textaufgabe) können ein Cartoon oder statistische Angaben vorgelegt werden, die zu dem Ausgangstext in Bezug gesetzt werden müssen. Dies wird als „erweiterter Textbegriff“ bezeichnet.
Aufgabenbereiche

1.1 Understanding the text
In diesem Aufgabenbereich werden zwei Fragen zu dem vorgelegten Text gestellt. In Ihrer Antwort sollen Sie sich nur auf den vorliegenden Text beziehen. Sie sollen nicht aus dem Text zitieren. Sobald Sie fünf zusammenhängende Wörter aus dem Text übernehmen, gilt das als Zitat und wird nicht gewertet.
Ausnahme: Unumgängliches fachspezifisches Vokabular darf übernommen werden.
In diesem Aufgabenteil dürfen Sie auch auf keinen Fall Ihre eigene Meinung zum Ausdruck bringen.

1.2 A Step further
Im Aufgabenteil A Step further sollen Sie zusätzliches Material (Cartoon, Statistik) im Hinblick auf die Thematik des vorgelegten Textes bearbeiten (erweiterter Textbegriff).

1.3 Composition
Im Teil Composition haben Sie die Wahl zwischen zwei Fragen. Die Fragen beziehen sich immer auf landeskundliche Themen.
In diesem Aufgabenteil können Sie auch Ihre eigene Meinung darlegen.

Hier können sie wählen!

Sie haben die Wahl zwischen Aufgabenteil 2.1 Translation (etwa 180 Wörter) oder Aufgabenteil 2.2 Mediation (Texte bis zu 800 Wörtern) .

Bereits vor der Abiturprüfung sollten Sie sich tendenziell für eine der beiden Aufgabenformen entscheiden. Die Entscheidung treffen Sie am besten vor dem Hintergrund der Ergebnisse, die Sie in den vorausgegangenen Klausuren erzielt haben. Dennoch sollten Sie sich beide Aufgabenstellungen anschauen.
