Wappen von Kreis und Stadt
 Dieser
seltsame Biber hat Bedeutung:Origin/Meaning: Biberach was already a city
in 1240 and the oldest seal is known since 1258. The seal shows the canting
beaver (Biber) between a tree and the Imperial Eagle. In later seals the
two animals were each placed on a small shield. At the same time the beaver
was placed in a small shield on the breast of the eagle. The present arms
were granted in 1488 by Emperor Friedrich III, but the colours were in
silver a blue beaver, crowned red. Not until 1962 the colours were changed
to the present colours.
Kreiswappen: Origin/Meaning: The arms
were granted on March 4, 1970, and confirmed on September 3, 1973. The
Imperial eagle is derived from the arms of the city of Biberach, and symbolises
the city as well as a number of former Imperial Estates in the district.
The crosier is a symbol for the many possessions of some monasteries,
such as the Salem Abbey, in the district prior to 1803.(Quelle: http://www.ngw.nl/int/dld/b/biberach.htm).
