Great fun for everybody.....

Just friends....

|
Don't try this on the playing field.
|
Holding your opponent like this could be against
the rules.
|
|
|
|
|
Keep moving, because....
|
...it keeps you fit for the next match.

OK, not everybody can be all smiles...
|
...as this birthday girl.

Hands are so important in handball...

,,,and so are solid shoulders.

And the last match, the finals of group male A, made
Benjamin Hert (shirt: Embe 91) think (left). Well, not really.
We can't look into his mind. So we don't know whether he really
intended to score the first point as he later did. Anyway, the
match,...
|
|
|
|
|
was exciting to the max, ....
|
...but not for everybody. ;-)

TG Biberach won by one point in the last second..
(Looks like that team can really be a good example and doesn't
have to serve as a terrible warning!)
|
But the boys from the Handball Akademie Göppingen
were nevertheless happy about their prizes. ( More
winners here > Click on "Platzierungen" at the
bottom of the page that opens.)

Here's how our man at the playing field experienced
the final match:
With a bang ended the 6th International Biberach
Handball Tournament (IBOZ) organized by the TG
Biberach in which 81 Teams competed for the prizes of
the Kreissparkassen-Cup.
The male A-youth proved to be a "bad host" and won the match
against the guests from the
Handball Academy Göppingen, watched (and cheered by
a lot of people) by about 500 viewers with a score of 14:13.
Captain Jürgen Dietrich showed great cool
when he (at a score of 13:13 !) grabbed the ball in a confused
situation after a free throw was awarded to the Biberach
team and - wham! - nailed the ball into the goal seconds
before the final whistle.
The Biberach team were the obvious underdogs
against the "Academics" from Frischauf Göppingen. The TG
team had already lost two matches in the tournament and
was lucky to find themselves among the final eight teams.
But they showed great fighting spirit and won deservedly.
Having dominated the game in the first fifteeen
minutes they fell back after a series of mistakes but made
ground again until the final victorious goal. Celebrating
was next on the agenda, but not before the team had joined
the other one hundred IBOT helpers in clearing the gym from
the tournament equipment. Great show, lads!
(Based on a text
from the TG Handball web site, which has more to say
about the tournament albeit in German. P.S. What the heck
is "Kreuzeck" in English?))

Not only because the boys from Göppingen carried their
defeat in the final like real sportsmen do they deserve this
extra picture.
Second place in group male A, first place in group male B and
also the best player, Marc Hafner, in that group. What a great
performance!
