Biberach Guide

With such a large international population in Biberach the need for an English guide to the town's pubs, shops, customs, quirks and phobias is sorely felt by us. You do not, for example, say "Would you like to go on a Weißgerber Walk with me?". You do, however say, after visiting any performance by the Drama Society ("Dramatischer Verein"): "Wow! I haven't seen anything like this on Broadway!". The gullible Beavers will definitely take it as a compliment and you'll have saved face. There are not just the few Hauchler students who could use a town guide. There are also employees of Liebherr, Boehringer Ingelheim, etc. or guests of KaVo and other companies with international customers. Then, of course, there are also the citizens of our twin towns. It would not make sense just to translate the "NeubürgerInnen ABC". The information needs of the above-mentioned groups are not necessarily identical. Anybody who would like to help with tips for surviving life in this Upper Swabian metropolis is invited to contribute facts, questions, observations, etc.

And weberberg.de is your chance to rant and rave about BC, folks! E-mail welcome at weberberg@web.de.

Re: Metroguide ;-) Some stuff is already on the WWW.Klick here for a sample. And here for one that is, er, well-meant.

Thanks to Martin Brown from England a great start has already been made as you can see in the "Biberach international" entry of this ABC. More information in English is available for Hauchler students..

Some of the kind of information we have in mind can be found on the website of our neighbouring city - Ulm. We would, however, aim for a less bland presentation of our town. And the English would be better, we hope. The tourist office in Ulm publishes a biannual magazine called "spazz", which has lots of information in English. Useful to have. And free..

You could, of course, just ask Google to translate this town guide for you. But what you'd get would be more laughs than information. Take a look at this translation of our "Biergärten" entry:

Beer gardens: OK, with the giant systems Munich can not keep up beaver oh. But of carousing and of priming under trees sitting gibt's also in the place and not far away there are possibilities - been situated between Stafflangen and bath Buchau - the Aymuehle (Monday quiescent day). Their self-advertisement: " some state, the Aymuehle has the most beautiful beer garden of upper swabia. We are the opinion, it are the most beautiful beer garden of upper swabia. " Our tester sees that similar, found the meal at the Ayweiher of OK ONE and referred to us to the there musical Sonntagsbrunch. (concerts and small art gibt's there also.) Thus remains for us at present only as improvement suggestion for the homepage of the loading: Orthography check and somehow times with the difference of ', ' ' and `` deal with themselves.
